In case anyone has not seen the email from Bro. Jack Wheeler, please take a moment to read about this wonderful honor:
Dear Brothers and Friends:
The "Honor of Philias" has not always been fully understood; good nominations sometimes fail to find their way to the Nominating Committee. However, due to the many changes being made at the Headquarters and the special efforts of the Fraternity in finding the best nomination, our Foundation has given an extension for nominations. For this time only, nominations will be accepted through July 1.
The "Honor" does not have to be recognized at every Conclave, but we also know there are very special demonstrations of Brotherly Love throughout the Fraternity and in our university communities all the time. We can honor SigEp undergraduates, alumni, or people in the community that are great examples of Brotherly Love.
Click here to download a brochure that gives you the official guidelines for the "Honor of Philias." Take the time to read them. Take a copy to the university dean or president and let them know what your Fraternity is doing. They just might have the right example in their pocket. Remember that all nominations are secret, and the "Honor" will not be announced until the Brotherhood Luncheon.
More brochures will be available at the Foundation Office. Hopefully, the explanations and information will cause you and others to really think! Remember, all nominations will be retained and considered for a two-year period.
Thank goodness our Founding Fathers understood then, what we understand now. Sigma Phi Epsilon is different, and much of that difference is because of our emphasis of Brotherly Love. It made a difference in my life and I suspect it made a difference in yours.
With Great Love,
Jack D. Wheeler
