Kentucky Eta Chapter Regains Charter at Northern Kentucky University
America's premier fraternity to charter at Northern Kentucky University on April 4th 2009.
After five years of hard work and constant dedication by undergraduates and alumni, their national fraternity will officially recognize the chapter.
Sigma Phi Epsilon, also know as SigEp, is best known as the top leadership fraternity at Northern Kentucky University. Brothers of the chapter have held almost every leadership position on campus, from the IFC President for three consecutive years to the Director of Student Orientation; though they are the youngest fraternity at NKU, they are leaving a legacy of leadership on campus.
Currently brothers hold top leadership positions on campus, including President, four Senators, and a Chief Justice of the Student Government Association, IFC Executive Vice President, several members in the Norse Leadership Society, and numerous leadership positions in many other student organizations.
The University faculty and staff openly state that SigEp is the premier leadership Fraternity at Northern Kentucky University. The chapter of 44 members also proudly holds the honor of having the highest grade point average of any fraternity on campus with at 3.08 in the fall semester 2008.
While leadership and academics are important to the members, the have also maintained a relationship with YouthAIDS, an international non-profit organization that raises money and awareness for people under 25 that are affected by HIV/AIDS. During their five years in existence they have raised over $5,000.00 for the organization and held numerous awareness events in the Highland Heights, Kentucky community.
The charter banquet, being held at the Hilton Netherlands Plaza in Cincinnati, Ohio will have representatives from the local and national Fraternity, as well as NKU faculty and staff, alumni, undergraduates, and special guest. Currently, Cincinnati native and upcoming actor, Adam Salling (Gregory) will make a guest appearance at the event; he was a member of the Fraternity while attending Northern Kentucky University and is currently on 90210 and has several movies coming out this spring including 17 Again and Hardbreakers.
About Kentucky Eta of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity:
Founded in 1983, the Kentucky Eta chapter was dormant from 1993 to 2003, has more than 200 alumni and 40 undergraduate members. Restarted in 2003 the SigEps at Northern Kentucky University are known for their school spirit, campus leadership, and academics.
As the only non-pledging fraternity at NKU they strive to create a meaningful fraternity experience by focusing on the tenants of building Sound Mind, Body, and Spirit. Their mission is to destroy the "frat boy" image and to have a fraternity experience that compliments their member’s pursuit of higher education.
