Tulane Sig Eps Continue Post Katrina Service

Tulane Sig Eps Continue Winning Service

In the summer of 2007 the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation recognized Louisiana Alpha's post Katrina service work. The foundation extended us the opportunity to apply for a $5,000 grant to continue our chapter's service work in New Orleans as a part of the Honor of Philias award that the chapter received.

With a renewed sense of accomplishment and an expanded source of capital, our chapter sought to concentrate its service efforts. In an effort to influence one of the city's most vital institutions, www.greenNOLAschools.com was born. The website and service project are both creations of the LA Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Our undergraduate chapter has decided to focus our community outreach efforts on the improvement and redevelopment of New Orleans schools. We aim to do this by raising money for Global Green New Orleans', a local non-profit, Green Schools Initiative. We eventually hope to expand the scope of our project to include service learning and other educational opportunities for our members. We are confident that our alumni can have a very positive impact on our efforts. Please stay tuned for updates regarding opportunities for alumni involvement. In the meantime, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me personally.
