Mayor shot in Missouri is a SigEp

One of the victims in the recent shooting in Kirkwood MissouriThe town mayor, is a SigEp. Mike Swoboda is a member of MO Gamma - UM Rolla '60.
Mayor Mike Swoboda, 69, was injured and was in critical condition at a hospital. He is serving his second and final term as mayor because of term limits. Previously he served four terms on the City Council.

Two city officials spoke of his deep commitment to the community.

One called the mayor "Mr. Ubiquitous" because he rarely went to an event where he didn't spot the mayor. When first elected mayor in 2000, Swoboda pledged to work to keep the city's traditional flavor.
Five people died in the shootings on Thursday night.
