Rider march today in DeVercelly's memory

Update: A commemorative march scheduled yesterday on the Rider University campus to honor the memory of fallen freshman Gary DeVercelly Jr. was postponed by the stormy weather until next Monday at the same time (5 p.m.) at Moore Library.

LAWRENCE -- A commemorative march will be held today on the Rider University campus to honor the memory of fallen freshman Gary DeVercelly Jr. who passed away last month due to alcohol consumption.

The demonstration, dubbed "The Cali March," in reference to the 19-year-old’s California inspired nickname,is also being carried out to increase awareness about the danger of alcohol abuse.

The Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity is sponsoring the march and donations received will go to the Gary L. DeVercelly Jr. Scholarship.

Registration for the event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the march beginning in front of Moore Library at 5 p.m.
